On April 1, 2023, The Diana Foundation will celebrate its 70th Platinum Jubilee anniversary with its annual “Diana Awards Show” at The Ballroom at Bayou Place in Houston, Texas, headlined by internationally renowned comic sensation Bianca Del Rio.

On April 1, 2023, The Diana Foundation will celebrate its 70th Platinum Jubilee anniversary with its annual “Diana Awards Show” at The Ballroom at Bayou Place in Houston, Texas, headlined by internationally renowned comic sensation Bianca Del Rio.
The foundation dates its start to 1953 in Houston, Texas and during its formative years supported many unmet needs within the Houston gay community. Later it would become a 501(c)3 organization for the purpose of enabling its members to make contributions to the needs of the Houston community, including early activism and advocacy at the point the HIV and AIDS crisis was having a devastating impact. It also provided seed money for many of what now continue as Houston’s long-standing LBGTQ+ social support organizations, including Legacy Community Health, Avenue 360, The Montrose Center, AIDS Foundation Houston, and others, providing services, dignity and care to members of our community.

The Diana Foundation’s mission is dedicated to the tradition of producing the annual “Diana Awards Show” and providing meaningful membership engagement through social and philanthropic activities.
Through these activities, the foundation’s members continue to contribute to worthwhile civic, charitable and educational endeavors. Funds raised from the evening will benefit local organizations that provide vital services to the LGBTQ+ community, including this year’s beneficiaries, The Law Harrington Senior Living Center, Avenue 360 health services, and Open Gate Ministries, serving marginalized housing-insecure youth.
The April 1st celebration includes a VIP Meet & Greet, an open bar cocktail reception and silent auction set to the swanky sounds of Grammy recognized Tiana Hall & The Houston Jazz Band, a formal seated dinner with engaging live entertainment headlined by Bianca Del Rio, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 6, alongside Texas Drag Legends Dina Jacobs, Tasha Kohl and Tommie Ross, and the presentation of “The Diana Awards” (continuing the foundation’s long tradition of a humorous member “roast,” originally inspired by the Academy Awards and in tribute to the Roman deity, “Diana, Goddess of the Hunt”), concluding with an after-hours Studio54 inspired disco party to dance the night away.
The members of The Diana Foundation are excited to invite you to join us in celebrating our decades long history and we look forward to continuing our impactful legacy for many years to come!
