About the Artist - Ciro Flores:
I was born in Honduras Central America, my fascination with art started at a very young age. I remember the first thing I drew was a sail fish jumping out of the water when I was in 3rd grade, I would spend countless hours tracing my favorite comic book characters into onion skinned tracing paper, and selling them to my cousins and friends. When I moved to the United States at age 11 I found that I loved drawing and painting. The idea of becoming an artist was never real to me back them but as I grew older and started to learn about art I became fascinated by the Egyptian hiroglyphics, Mayan wall paintings, the works of the Mexican muralist and the folk artist of my home country.  The beauty and color of all this great works make me want to explore the possibility of painting and creating my own stories.

The majority of my artwork stems from my observations of what goes on around me, and my desire to capture those moments as I see them. Most of my paintings begin as rough sketches on whatever I can get my hands on, from cocktail napkins while sitting at a bar, a meeting agenda from a boring meeting at work, the cover story on the daily newspaper, or even on my desk.

I try to tell a story thru my paintings. Sometimes I succeed other times the paintings tend to develop as their own stories depending on who is looking at them. Most of my paintings are very personal and are usually specific happenings in my life and the life of those around me.
